Teaching & Studies

Our Topics: Water - Wastewater - Environment

Sanitary and environmental engineering deals with all issues relating to drinking water treatment, water supply and wastewater disposal. A central objective is the protection of water and environment. Besides general engineering knowledge, knowledge of biology and chemistry is above all required to understand the complex processes involved in water treatment and to achieve these goals.

We offer lectures on drinking water supply and treatment, wastewater treatment and sewage sludge treatment. We also focus on wastewater recycling, nutrient recovery and material flow management. In sanitary and environmental engineering, knowledge of natural sciences and engineering as well as increasingly economic and social aspects are combined to work for sustainable environmental protection.

First of all our courses are offered for the Bachelor and Master Programs of Civil, Environmental and Industrial Engineering and Environmental Sciences (Geoecology) as well as Bioengineering. However our classes are also open to students enrolled in biotechnology, biology and chemistry or mechanical engineering etc. Students from all faculties can attend our classes on an optional basis (Pool, optional class attendance, guests, Erasmus etc.).
