The class Drinking Water Treatment is offered in the summer term for the Master Study Programs Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering and Environmental Natural Sciences (Geoecology).
The class treats the basic processes of drinking water treatment. First legal regulations and drinking water standards are introduced. Then important process steps such as decarbonisation, flocculation, filtration, removal of iron and manganese are discussed and the calcium carbonate equilibrium and water softening are explained. Additionally the removal of organic compounds and water disinfection, especially important for drinking water treatment outside of Germany, are presented. All important process steps of a water treatment plant are covered.
