The class Energy Systems Biomass Utilization is a joint project of the Institutes of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering and Waste Management. The class is offered in the winter term. The class first of all addresses students in the Master Programs Environmental Engineering and Technologically Oriented Management.
The focus of the class is on biomass as a renewable energy resource. Particular attention is given to the basic knowledge on suitable resources, their degradation processes and their utilization options. In addition, questions of sustainability, future technological solutions as well as safety aspects are discussed in the class. A field trip to a biomass utilization plant is also part of the class.
