International networks

CESAER (Conference of European Schools for Advanced Engineering and Research) is "the strong and united voice of Europe's technical universities". The network was founded in 1990 and currently has 58 members from 28 countries. It deals with various topics, such as sustainability at universities or the development of a common European research area, and has its headquarters in Belgium.

TU Braunschweig has been a member of the network since 2006. Almost 20 university members are involved in various CESAER projects and subject areas.

The FGU (Franco-German University) was founded in 1997 by Germany and France, in particular to develop, promote and evaluate Franco-German study programmes. The aim is to strengthen co-operation between Germany and France, to promote exchange in the areas of research and teaching and to jointly train young academics. The network currently consists of 208 universities in more than 130 cities in Germany, France and other countries. More than 6400 students and 300 doctoral candidates are currently taking part in a FGU programme.

TU Braunschweig has been a member of the FGU since 2000. The membership is supported in particular by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, which has a double degree programme with the Université de Technologie de Compiègne.

Institute of Microtechnology

The European University Association (EUA) represents more than 850 universities and national rectors' conferences from 49 European countries. It is regarded as "the independent voice of European universities" and influences EU policy in the areas of higher education, research and innovation.

TU Braunschweig has been a member of the EUA since 1966. In 2022, Prof Manfred Krafzyk was appointed to the EUA Steering Committee on Digital Transformation.

The ISCN is an international network in which universities can exchange ideas on sustainability topics. The aim is to promote the integration of sustainability on campus and in research and teaching through joint discourse. TU Braunschweig has been a member of the International Sustainable Campus Network since 2022.

"Protecting Scholars and the freedom to think, question and share ideas" - this is the motto of the New York-based organisation "Scholars at Risk" (SAR). More than 600 research institutions from all over the world have joined forces in the organisation to offer safe residence and research opportunities to scholars who are at risk in their home countries due to political persecution, violence or oppression.

TU Braunschweig has been a member of Scholars at Risk since March 2022.
