The class Water Chemistry and Water Analytics is offered in the summer term in the Master Study Programs Civil Engineering and Environmental Natural Sciences (Geoecology) as well as in the Bachelor Study Program Environmental Engineering. Students from other departments may also attend this class as part of the Pool-Model.
Module: Module Drinking Water Treatment, Water Chemistry and Water Analytics, Discharge of Municipal Wastewater (MA Civil Eng. ) (2 out of 3, 6 CP)
- Water Chemistry and Water Analytics (Bauerfeld) 3 CP
- Drinking Water Treatment (Dockhorn, Mohammadi) 3 CP
- Discharge of Municipal Wastewater (Hartmann, Belli) 3 CP
Chemistry plays an important role in sanitary and environmental engineering and is essential for understanding water and environmental pollution, water treatment and laboratory research work. The class "Water Chemistry and Water Analytics" is organized in three parts. First, basic questions and problems such as atomic structure, chemical reactions and stoiciometric calculations are discussed. Based on this knowledge, the second part of the class focuses on "water" introducing water characteristics, solution and precipitation processes as well as oxidation and reduction reactions. Last but not least analytical methods for water investigationare presented such as sampling procedures, sum parameters and special wastewater parameters. Particular attention will be given to standard analytics for wastewater treatment.
All lecture notes and course material can be found in StudIP. You must be registered as class participant for accessing and downloading the course material.
