The workshop is aimed at all staff members at TU Braunschweig who regularly advise students or prospective students in the context of their work and would like to learn about racism-critical impulses and tools for their counselling work. We will deal with the following questions, among others: What role does racism play when it comes to counselling as a power relationship? How can counsellors break open the space of "white complicity" and counteract colonial continuities?

The aim of the workshop is to enable you as a counsellor to provide support when students or prospective students approach you with experiences of racism.

In this online lecture, Dr Eric Morales from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) will talk about the challenges of water management in times of climate change in a mega-city like Mexico City.

Groundwater is an important source of water for human needs in Mexico and worldwide. However, the intensive pumping of groundwater in many areas of Mexico has led to several negative impacts that threaten sustainability. In the presentation you will learn how the situation in Mexico City is being improved step by step.

After the lecture, you will have the opportunity to ask questions and find out more about the cooperation between TU Braunschweig and UNAM and to identify your own potential areas of cooperation.

About Dr Eric Morales
Eric Morales is a Senior Researcher at the Institute of Geology of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) and a member of CONACYT's National System of Researchers. He graduated as an Agronomist Engineer from the Universidad Autónoma Chapingo in Mexico in 1990, earned a Master's in Groundwater from UNAM in 1997, and a Ph.D. in Hydrology from the University of Arizona in 2004. His expertise lies in groundwater hydrology, focusing on groundwater flow systems, contaminant transport subsurface (including mathematical and computational modeling of these processes), and deep hydrogeological exploration in Mexico City.

In this Instagram Live Talk, we talk about how to organise a semester abroad sustainably. The Mobility Office provides tips on funding opportunities for travelling environmentally friendly and conserving resources. Students also talk about their personal experiences.

In cooperation with Universum Filmtheater, we are presenting the film "NICO".

The self-confident German-Persian Nico is a cheerful person. She loves her job as a geriatric nurse and is popular with everyone because of her easy-going and understanding manner. She is enjoying the summer in Berlin with her best friend Rosa. But suddenly she is torn from her carefree everyday life by a racist attack. Nico realises that she doesn't belong here as a matter of course and how much xenophobia actually surrounds her. Plagued by memories of the horrific attack, she decides to never be a victim again and starts training hard in karate. Through the sports, she channels her anger, but also loses her connection to herself and her old life. Only when Nico meets the Macedonian Ronny does she reconsider the path she has taken.

In this event, you will receive information about opportunities for a stay abroad during your time as a doctoral candidate at TU Braunschweig. The event will be rounded off by a report from Dr Alexander Barke, who will talk about his research stay at the University of Rhode Island during his doctorate.

  Internationalisation of Curricula and Teaching in English
  The internationalisation of curricula comprises the integration of global perspectives, teaching content and methods into curricula and degree programmes to prepare students for a globalised world. This includes the conscious integration of international topics, the use of foreign languages and the creation of opportunities for intercultural exchange. This short presentation will provide ideas for the internationalisation of your teaching.
• 10:10 - Thematic Impulse:
  Digital International Teaching Collaborations
  International teaching collaborations not only provide scope for deepening subject-specific knowledge and testing new teaching and learning formats but they also enable teachers and students from different cultural and disciplinary backgrounds to work together and thus promote intercultural competence. Conducting these collaborations in a digital format extends their accessibility, benefiting students who may not have the means to travel. This is a brief presentation of what needs to be considered during planning and implementation.
• 10:20 - Thematic Impulse:
  Mobility Windows in Degree Programmes
  A stay abroad enables students to familiarise themselves with international perspectives on their subject. Mobility windows facilitate the seamless integration of a study abroad experience into a degree programme without exceeding the standard period of study. For many students, this is has become an important argument when deciding on a degree programme. Together, we will explore which forms of mobility windows are available, and you can take time for a consultation to find out which options might best suit your degree programme!

  Introduction to SAiL Funding and Presentation of the Lab's Range of Services
  Applications for the new SAiL Grant “Strengthening and Developing International Teaching" as part of the Promoting Digital Education Through Global Interconnection (ProDiGI) project can be submitted until 3 May. The funding programme focuses on establishing permanent and clearly visible English-language curricula. It covers the development and integration of thematic module packets that can be studied in English as well as the introduction of new or the revision of existing English-language study programmes. This workshop is designed for international students interested in learning more about finding a job in Germany.
