After completing this module, students will have extended knowledge of both the basic and the production- and stress-compatible design of welded joints. In addition, students are able to understand and produce their own drawings of welded joints and develop welding sequence plans. The students are able to calculate and assess the load-bearing capacity of welded structures under static and oscillating loads and to apply common design concepts and standards for the dimensioning of welded joints subjected to oscillating loads. The students know different methods to improve the fatigue strength of existing structures and are able to assign and evaluate measures for the repair of existing structures.
