Degree: Master
Credit points: 5
Module number: MB-IFS-11
Rotation: winter semester
Upon completion of this module, students will be able to name basic parameters of material processing with the aid of beam tools and to compare these with conventional manufacturing processes. Students are able to qualitatively describe the basic physical processes involved in the generation of laser and electron radiation. In addition, the students are able to describe the interaction of both beam tools with matter. Furthermore, they are enabled to name the essential components of laser beam sources and electron beam generators and to explain their mode of operation qualitatively. The students are able to deduce the relevance of these manufacturing processes on the basis of numerous application examples from research and industrial application. After completion of the module, they are able to compare the manufacturing processes presented and to select suitable application-related processes.
