NEDS

NEDS - Nachhaltige Energieversorgung Niedersachsen

The central question of the transdisciplinary research network is how a sustainable electrical energy supply can be designed in Lower Saxony in 2050, taking into account social, ecological, economic and technical conditions. Optimal development paths are to be determined based on technical feasibility and sustainability criteria.

Aim

The aim of the project is to work out development paths towards a future sustainable energy supply in Lower Saxony and to evaluate them on the basis of meaningful sustainability criteria.

The sustainability criteria for evaluating the development paths must be selected in such a way that they best meet the needs of both today's population and those of future generations beyond the year 2050. In a kick-off symposium, the project will be discussed with stakeholders from politics and business, interest groups and citizens and made accessible for active participation. The aim of this process is to identify meaningful sustainability criteria for possible development paths in order to incorporate them into the evaluation process for the paths and scenarios.

For each of the development paths generated by the research group, a multi-criteria analysis of the path-specific sustainability criteria is carried out in order to evaluate it. In addition to the technical conditions, the criteria imposed on the development path by society, the individual citizen and the environment are also taken into account.
