Microfluidics, the control and manipulation of fluids at the micrometer scale, has gained significant attention due to its small size, low cost, rapid analysis, and high accuracy. One of its applications is impedance flow cytometry (IFC) for the detection and analysis of microparticles and microorganisms. In impedance flow cytometry, particles change the impedance of the measurement zone as they pass between two electrodes, and this change in impedance can be used to detect and characterize the microparticle. The aim of this project is to develop an IFC using MEMS technology on a silicon substrate, which will be sealed with PDMS.
