Seeds fly away on the wind, travel as stowaways or "pay" for their transport, others are flung away, float across the oceans or simply drop. Plants use different, sometimes quite curious strategies to spread their seeds.
The pupils learn what seeds are in the first place and how they are formed. Through experiments they see for themselves how and whether the plants' strategies work.
Competences:
use a stereo magnifier properly
draw simple biological structures
formulate problem-related questions and possible explanations on the basis of phenomenological observations
carry out simple investigations and experiments on different dispersal mechanisms of plants according to instructions
practise their fine motor skills by making a flying seed
assign different fruits to the correct plants
use simple structural and functional models on a macroscopic level
