Marcela studied Civil Engineer at the Federal University of Campina Grande in Brazil, concentrating her bachelor's on rheological and mechanical analysis for modified asphalt mixtures using waste materials. In 2020, she started her Master’s at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, specializing in Geotechnics, Asphalt Paving and Sustainability. Her expertise encompasses Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), circular economy strategies, and carbon emissions simulations. Since 1st of august 2023, she initiated as a PhD Research Associate at the Institute for Road Science at TU Braunschweig under the direction of Prof. Michael P. Wistuba. The focus of her research pursuits revolves around the implementation of the sponge pavement concept to develop a more efficient asphalt mixture.
