Johannes Büchner studied civil engineering at TU Braunschweig and is working as a research associate at the Braunschweig Pavement Engineering Centre (ISBS) of TU Braunschweig since 2016. In February 2021, he gained his doctoral degree at TU Braunschweig on the topic “Asphalt Mastic Testing in the Dynamic Shear Rheometer”. His research and teaching focusses mainly on testing bituminous materials with the dynamic shear rheometer (DSR). He is currently working on performance tests (creep tests, fatigue tests, relaxation tests) of asphalt binder and asphalt mastic, binder-fast-characterization-test (BTSV) and 4 mm geometry. These topics are also included in different publications and conference contributions. He is member of different boards in the German Road and Transportation Research Association (FGSV), the German Institute for Standardization (DIN) and the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) and thereby contributing to the development of German and European Standards regarding bituminous binders.
