Frederik Kollmus studied civil engineering at the Technical University of Braunschweig. Since December 1, 2019, he has been a research assistant at the Braunschweig Pavement Engineering Centre at the Technical University of Braunschweig under the direction of Prof. Michael P. Wistuba. In 2015 he was awarded the Eurovia Road Construction Prize for his bachelor's thesis on bitumen solubility. In 2019 he received the ViaTec prize from Switzerland for his master's thesis on the influence of the addition of a rejuvenator on the performance of asphalt mixtures. The focus of his research and teaching activities is on the digitalisation of asphalt pavements. He is currently testing new sensor technologies, including non-destructive testing of asphalt mixtures using acoustic resonance analysis.
