TSL/VeRoLog Cross-Region Grants for Yannick Scherr and Marlin Ulmer

TSL/VeRoLog Cross-Region Doctoral Grant

These grants are awarded by the INFORMS Transportation Science and Logistics Society and the VeRoLog Society as an effort to generate more collaboration across the four TSL regions (North America, Central and South America, Europe and Africa, and Asia, Australia and New Zealand) and with VeRoLog.

Yannick Scherr receives a doctoral grant for visiting Mike Hewitt at Loyola University Chicago in Fall 2018 to continue collaborative work on the project "Service Network Design with Mixed Autonomous Fleets". Marlin Ulmer receives a collaborative grant for joint work with Martin Savelsbergh (Georgia Tech). The grants were awarded during TSL's Business Meeting at the INFORMS Annual Meeting 2018 in Phoenix.

INFORMS TSL Award for Marlin Ulmer

INFORMS TSL award

For his dissertation, Dr. Marlin Ulmer received the honorable mention of the INFORMS Transportation Science and Logistics Society. This award is yearly awarded for outstanding research in the fields of transportation and logistics. This year’s ceremony was held at the TSL Workshop in Hong Kong.

NFF dissertation Award for Marlin Ulmer

NFF dissertation award

Dr. Marlin Ulmer received the dissertation award of the Automotive Research Centre Niedersachsen (NFF) 2017. This award is biennially awarded for outstanding and interdisciplinary dissertations in the field of mobility.

GOR Dissertation Prize for Marlin Ulmer

Dr. Marlin Ulmer received the dissertation award of the German Society for Operations Research (GOR). This award is regularly awarded at the annual OR meeting for outstanding dissertations in the area of Operations Research.

Marlin Ulmer's dissertation forms the basis for the successful use of machine learning methods in dynamic tour planning. It has been published under the title "Approximate Dynamic Programming for Dynamic Vehicle Routing" as a monograph in the Springer series "Operations Research / Computer Science Interfaces Series".

7th International Conference on City Logistics 2011

Mr. Jan Fabian Ehmke was honored with the outstanding paper award for his contribution Vehicle Routing for Attended Home Delivery in City Logistics at the 7th International Conference on City Logistics (2011, Mallorca Island, Spain). The presentation comprised results based on Mr. Ehmke's research project.

Once a year, the Braunschweiger Bürgerpreis foundation recognizes University of Braunschweig's students who have shown both, outstanding achievements throughout their studies and extracurricular engagement.

Daniel Grosshans studies Business Information Systems at University of Braunschweig since winter term 2005/06. He works as student assistant at the chair since April 2008. During his studies he has achieved excellent grades in his exams "Financial Controlling", "Business Information Systems - Decision Support" and "Medical Information Systems" at University of Braunschweig as well as during his MBA studies at University of Nebraska at Omaha. Furthermore, he demonstrated social, political and cultural outreach in his position at the general student committee.

Once a year the fme-prize is awarded by the department of business administration for excellent accomplishments within the business domain. Mr. Andreas Schmidt's most outstanding work is his diploma thesis, concerning the "Concept and Design of an Information System in support of Study Affairs and Examination Procedures at Universities".

The award ceremony took place during the general graduation commencement in Nov/2006.

fme is a local company with a large number of former TU Braunschweig's students. fme's financial support makes the graduation ceremony a festive occasion for all participating students.

Once a year, the Braunschweiger Bürgerpreis foundation recognizes University of Braunschweig's students who have shown both, outstanding achievements throughout their studies and extracurricular engagement. Jan Fabian Ehmke, student assistant at the department for information systems was awarded the Braunschweiger Bürgerpreis in december 2005.

Stephan Meisel, research associate at the department of information systems was awarded the "Diplomarbeitspreis des Vereins Angewandte Informatik Karlsruhe (AIK) e.V." verliehen at October 28, 2005.

The AIK's award for master thesis is given to graduates of the Institut für Angewandte Informatik und Formale Beschreibungsverfahren (AIFB) at the University of Karlsruhe having rendered outstanding scientific activity by doing their masters thesis.
