Doctoral Candidates in the field of Bioinorganic Medicinal Chemistry (m/f/d)
(EG 13 TV-L, part-time)


The part-time (50%) position is to be filled on a fixed-term basis for an initial period of 36 months. The successful applicant will be given the opportunity to pursue a doctorate.

The group of Prof. Ingo Ott at the Institute of Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemistry has long-lasting experience in the field of Bioinorganic Medicinal Chemistry, which deals with the research on metal-based drug candidates. The group has developed broad expertise in synthetic organometallic chemistry, pharmaceutical analytics and bioanalytics of metal complexes, cell culture methods for the evaluation of anticancer drug candidates, and microbiological methods for the study of anti-infective agents.

Your tasks

  • You will carry out research in the area of Bioinorganic Medicinal Chemistry
  • You will work on a highly interdisciplinary project integrating at least two of the above-mentioned fields of expertise
  • You will publish research findings and participate in national and international conferences
  • You will be involved in teaching at the University (preparation and implementation of courses as well as supervision of students’ work).

Your Qualifications

  • You have a degree (Master’s or equivalent) in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Microbiology or a related field.
  • You have very good knowledge of the English language.
  • You are flexible, can perform under pressure and work well in a team.
  • You are aiming for a doctorate.
