Wolfsburg is a planned city of contrasts, designed in 1938 and has developed until today in the ambivalence between industrial location and the aspiration to be diverse, lively and livable. The city is international and surrounded by a landscape with great recreational value. But Wolfsburg also has to master challenges; 76,000 commuters drive into the city every day and the apartment vacancy rate is below 1%. All signs in Wolfsburg point to growth but how do you design growth to develop an energy-efficient, socially mixed and affordable city? The site is centrally located on the Mittelland Canal across from the VW plants and within walking distance of the train station. It is an ideal place to develop a new residential quarter for the city. It's up to you! What are your visions for this new quarter in Wolfsburg? Analyze the potentials of this location, what is missing in Wolfsburg, what ideas do you have to unite the industrial location and the city into a living organism. Build symbolic bridges between the city, the landscape and the factory!
