The romantic feeling of being near the container for old glass, the birds nest as a fairy-tale forest on the sidewalk, the enchantment of the gap between buildings - do you actually perceive what surrounds you, or you surround yourself with what you see?
We think we know the city from A to Z, but we only go from A to B. From our apartment to the supermarket, to the parking lot, to the university, to the train station and back.
In a compact week, we will discover new starting points, explore trails and find new destinations. We walk with our eyes wide open, listening carefully to the stories we encounter.
The aim of the workshop is to focus our eyes and ears on hidden potentials in urban space, away from the routes carved in stone. As a next step, we will use audiovisual installations to make our discoveries explorable for us and others.
We search, find and experiment with alternative methods of urban analysis and would like to observe and evaluate with you, spatial and atmospheric features of a particular urban space.
An exhibition, with an audio walk for interested citizens of Braunschweig, is planned at the end of the course.
