Robotics Learning

Course content

Aims

Students acquire the competence to formalize applications of learning methods in robotics, to select suitable methods and to evaluate them with regard to their performance. They acquire the competence to assess chances and possibilities as well as limitations of robot learning. In the exercises, the students deepen their knowledge and apply it practically, also in the form of programming tasks.

Content

Algorithms and applications of machine learning in fundamental areas of robotics. These include, but are not limited to applications in

  • motion learning, architectures and their biological Models
  • Kinematics learning for forward and inverse kinematics
  • Dynamics learning and hybrid modeling
  • Skill learning
  • Learning of actions and sequences

To realize such applications, methods of exploratory learning, reinforcement learning, for online regression and evolutionary algorithms, among others, are treated in depth.
