Isotope Techniques in the Groundwater-Soil System

Course content

The course gives an overview on isotope techniques in the terrestrial environment - with a focus on the groundwater-soil system. Basic terms, concepts and applications are introduced. Beside an introduction into isotope hydrology and a short introduction to groundwater movement in the subsurface this course focusses on groundwater age dating, groundwater recharge and the determination of groundwater origin. Aside from learning from presented case studies, the students evaluate data sets from exemplary field studies.
