Introduction to Sustainable Bioproduction

Course content

The students can describe the fundamentals of biological processes and explain single examples quantitatively. They can discuss characteristics and application possibilities of biocatalysts and derive strategies for their improvement. By using assessment tools the students can compare biological processes and declare the fields of application for the energetic and material usage of biomass.

Content:
The lecture contains the following aspects:

  • basics of biological production processes
  • characteristics, applications and improvement of biocatalysts
  • valuation and comparison of biological processes
  • material and energetic use of biomass

Within the laboratory the following aspects will be handled:

  • Use of exemplary biocatalysts for the production for instance of polymers
