Introduction to Lattice Boltzmann Methods

Course content

The students are able to discretize partial differential equations for moderately complex transport and flow problems using asymptotic analysis in the spirit of a Lattice Boltzmann method, to implement them in C/C++ and to solve simple two-dimensional transport and flow problems with this implementation.

Introduction to lattice gases; from lattice gases to Boltzmann equation, discretization of BG in velocity space, FD discretization of DBL, asymptotic analysis of hydrodynamic moments, tutorial code, example simulations
