Introduction to the tasks of methodical aircraft design; Directions of development in aircraft construction; Development processes for aircraft programs: Presentation of the iterative, multi-disciplinary design process; Weight systems; Statistics; Geometric modeling; Introduction to aerodynamics and propulsion technology; Fuel calculation and consumption optimization; Airplane fuel storage; payload/range profile; Take-off and landing performance; Estimation of the operational empty and take-off mass; Transport work; Determination of direct operating costs (DOC); Discussion of the most important design parameters on the technical design and economy of commercial aircraft
Using the example of the commercial aircraft, the basics for computer-aided design are taught. For this purpose, methods are presented that lead to the optimization of complex devices during the design stage. The device is considered in the 1st phase as a mass point (which is described by specific parameters) and only described in the 2nd phase with geometric data
