Information and advice

You can usually find detailed information on the courses offered on the websites of your host university. If you have any questions about the course content, your faculty will be there to advise you. For general questions about the host university, please contact the Mobility Office in the International House.

Learning Agreement and exchange plan

Once you have decided which courses you would like to take abroad, prepare a learning agreement or an exchange plan outlining which courses at the host university will replace those at Braunschweig. This is a mandatory requirement for exchange programmes and must be included in your application documents. Additionally, we strongly recommend preparing this agreement when applying as a freemover to facilitate the academic recognition of the credits you earn abroad.

Once you have prepared the documents, discuss them with your subject coordinator at the faculty. The examination board will then review the Learning Agreement, exchange plan, and the information provided about the courses to determine whether the selected modules can be recognised

List of subject coordinators

If you have started your degree programme at the host university, it may be necessary to amend your Learning Agreement if certain courses are not offered or cannot be taken as planned. In this case, you should first consult with the responsable person at the host university to identify which new modules are available.

You have six weeks to modify your Learning Agreement or exchange plan. To ensure the recognition of these changes, you must first discuss them with your subject coordinator at TU Braunschweig and obtain their signature on the amended Learning Agreement. The document will also need to be signed by your host university. After finalising this document, please send it to your subject coordinator and provide a copy of the amended Learning Agreement to the Mobility Office.

Once you return to Braunschweig, you must submit an application to your faculty for the recognition of your achievements abroad. The application should include the following documents:

• Application form
• Transcript of Records from the host university
• Learning Agreement or exchange plan (depending on the programme and faculty)
• If applicable, additional documents that provide evidence of the acquired competencies, the scope of work completed, and the university's assessment system

All documents must be submitted in their original form.

• Please select the country where you studied from the drop-down list and enter the grade you achieved.

• If your country is not listed, please select 'My country is not in the list' and use the grade converter as follows:

  • In the first row, enter the highest possible grade in the grading system of your host university.
  • In the second row, enter the minimum passing grade in the grading system of your host university.
  • In the third row, enter the grade you achieved.

  • The result will indicate the equivalent of your foreign grade at TU Braunschweig.

The conversion to the German grading system is based on the modified Bavarian formula. This calculation method aligns with the recommendations of the Conference of Education Ministers. For more information on the conversion procedure, please refer to the following link:
