Getting to know new cultures, acquiring specialist knowledge, optimising language skills or testing your own limits – there are many reasons for studying abroad. Our students take advantage of the opportunities for exchange. In addition the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering offers a double degree programme together with universities from abroad. At the same time, we welcome international students to our faculty every semester.
1. ERASMUS
About one third of the students of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering spend one semester abroad during their studies. A large part of them use the ERASMUS+ programme and the numerous cooperation partners in Europe and worldwide for this purpose. The ERASMUS programme of the European Union promotes study visits abroad by students between EU countries and partner countries. A stay abroad here lasts at least one to two semesters. There is also the possibility of financial support through the programme. Students are also exempted from paying tuition fees abroad.

Exchange program with Birla Institute of Technology, Pilani, India
3. Double degree programmes of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering
You can earn two degrees with one study program by participating in our double degree programs.
4. Freemover
Students who would like to organize their stay abroad themselves are recommended to take advantage of the advisory services offered by the International Office and the International Team of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering (see below).
For all Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes of our faculty, grade sheets in German and English are available in the QIS portal. Please select the function Grade Sheet under Examination Administration. By changing the flag you can choose the desired language. The grade charts generated in this way will be recognized by the International Office in their present form for applications abroad. Only for study locations overseas, the signature of the faculty is additionally required. Only in this case, please request the transcript from the SERVICEteam of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
Whether you organise your stay yourself or join an exchange programme – good preparation is a prerequisite in any case. This applies in particular to the recognition of the studies done abroad to ensure that the stay abroad is ideally integrated into your studies.

About 2,000 international students study at TU Braunschweig. With the inTU program, we bring together international and local students at TU Braunschweig. The student tutorial programme teaches internationals about the german university system in weekly meetings – especially the structures and requirements of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The programme focuses on topics such as the organization of the study structure and everything about examinations. German culture and getting to know each other are also central topics at inTU.
In addition, there will be time during the meetings to address current issues. The goal of inTU is to make it easier for students to start at TU Braunschweig and thus significantly increase their chances of success. Valuable contacts can be made with german and international students. This additionally enriches the intercultural competence and language skills of german students.
