Who are you and what is your research topic?
I am Sahar Rabet, a researcher from the Institute of Thermodynamics at TU Braunschweig. My research focus in the SE2A is “Fundamental Investigation of Electrofuel Synthesis by Molecular Dynamics Simulation”. I perform simulations at the atomic level to gain an in-depth understanding of mechanisms and interactions in the electrosynthesis of new fuels for aviation.
Which research question are you working on?
Our team in ICA C2.1 wants to answer the following research question: What could be the promising components and optimal procedure for electrofuels synthesis.
What makes this topic special/exciting for you?
First of all, it is so important and meaningful for me to work as a member of SE2A since I have the opportunity to take a step in order to make the planet cleaner and greener for all inhabitants. According to my job, the exciting part is to do experiments with computer and see how a system of particles evolves through the time. Moreover, it is really interesting to relate and compare the simulation results with the outcome of experiments that are done by chemists.
Why is your topic relevant for future aviation?
The results of our investigation will help the future aviation by introducing new fuels with less contamination for the next generation of flights.
What is special about participating in the interdisciplinary research network SE²A?
From my point of view, the special part of working as a member of an interdisciplinary research network is not only learning about other research areas but also getting insight into the different aspects of a problem. Besides, it is definitely a great opportunity to communicate and collaborate with people from different fields and with different perspectives.
