The emerging field of Automotive Service Robotics deals with the automation of service tasks such as charging, parking, maintenance and cleaning of the next generation of autonomous vehicles. Today, early robots communicate with specific vehicle hardware through a custom-designed integrated communication device. However, scaling these solutions across use cases requires customization for each case. To avoid this cost and development time, the communication should be standardized.
Within the project, a standardized framework to vehicle to robot communication will be derived. To this end, communication concepts as well as implementation of a minimal viable product for such a universal vehicle-to-robot communication interface will be developed.
