Bio

Denis Sotomayor-Zakharov is a postdoctoral researcher specialized in the fields of CFD, turbulence & heat transfer. He obtained his Ph.D. title from the Technische Universität Braunschweig on the numerical analysis of the convective heat transfer on aircraft icing. He worked in European projects such as ICE GENESIS & HyMovDeIce, along with EU project partners such as Airbus, DLR & ONERA. He developed the original version of DICEPS (Developed Icing Code based on Eulerian Particle Solver), which is used for the numerical prediction of ice accretion on aircraft. Nowadays, his main research focuses in the numerical study of the turbulent heat transfer on rough surfaces via LES & RANS. These studies look towards enhancing the potential cooling capabilties of the external surface of fuel-cell-powered aircraft engines inside the frame of the FAME project. He also supports icing research inside the TRACES project.
