What are the early bloomers? How do they manage to bloom before all the other plants? Where do they get their strength from?
We explore these questions on our early bloomer excursion through the Botanical Garden and delve deeper into them at our research stations.
Using stereo magnifiers, students examine the different storage organs of early bloomers. A small early bloomer theater is devoted to the influence of light on plant development. At the hazel station, pollen dispersal by wind is playfully recreated - and last but not least, there is an "early bloomer snack" that is supposed to give bear powers!
Competences:
The pupils ...
investigate, name, sketch and compare different storage organs of early bloomers
describe the development of an early flowering plant as a cyclical process in the course of the seasons
describe and explain dependencies and adaptation processes of different plants and animals and carry out simple experiments on them
use a stereo magnifier appropriately
develop questions about simple natural phenomena (light and shadow)
practise their perception through the senses of smell, taste and touch.
Competences in the sense of ESD:
The pupils ...
learn about the problems caused by climate change, such as the shifting of the seasons (early flowers bloom so early in the year due to mild winters and early spring that no pollinators are on the way yet)
