Coaching for PhDs involves goal-oriented analysis of specific, individual career topics.
Coaching for PhDs is resource- and result-orientated: using questioning techniques and reflection exercises, the coach works intensively with the PhD researcher on how to achieve his or her goals. Coaching is neither training nor pure consulting, meaning the coach does not present ready-made solutions or courses of action. In fact, the coach supports the PhD researcher in developing her or his own solutions and manages the coaching process. This includes feedback at some points, but the PhD researcher is responsible for the topics discussed.
