Project overview:
The lithium-ion battery (LIB) is the key component of electrical energy storage. In particular, the fast recharging time and the capacity of the battery are important aspects for an improved market penetration of electromobility. From an ecologic and economic point of view “thick” electrodes have a better storage capacity due to an increase in the energy density. However, the quick charging time of the battery is inhibited. The Cause of this deterioration is influenced by kinetic losses, so called overvoltage. For this reason, the aim of the ProfiStruk project in the ProZell2 cluster is to develop processes for the systematic structuring of the electrode. Technical options are searched to create economically viable free spaces in the electrode, which serve as “fast lanes” for the lithium ions and thus ensure a reduction of kinetic losses.
