Our personnel development concept addresses all full-time, temporary and permanent employees in science, science management and technical & administrative staff.
The concept is designed to run for four years – from 2024 to 2027 – and outlines the framework and cornerstones of personnel development at TU Braunschweig as well as the focus areas for the next four years.
We have identified three key areas of focus for our sphere of activity as central facility “Professional and Personnel Development” (German acronym “ZPE”): Strategic Personnel Planning, Collaboration and Cohesion and Reshaping the Workplace. We have structured these focus areas into fields of action, which are addressed using targeted measures. This page gives you an overview of the focus areas and field of actions and provides examples of measures.
The personnel development concept was resolved by the Senate on 10 July 2024 and is available for download.
Strategic personnel planning is a medium- and long-term instrument that is used to analyse current and future personnel and skills requirements and derive appropriate action plans. In this context, we also consider the topics of knowledge management, supporting career and career decisions as well as onboarding and offboarding to be essential and we will address these as fields of action with suitable measures.
Field of Action Promoting Careers - Supporting Career Decisions
The Graduate Academy GradTUBS offers doctoral students a wide range of career and career planning programmes in the "Career and Perspective" event category.
Field of Action Personnel Planning and Knowledge Management as a Management Task
Personnel Planning and Knowledge Management as a Management Task is a new subject area that we at the ZPE will be focussing on more intensively. As part of a pilot project, instruments and methods of strategic personnel planning for public administration are to be trialled.
Field of Action Promoting Careers - Supporting Career Decisions
The Annual Review is a structured exchange between employees and their managers. It offers the opportunity to focus on the employee's development prospects.
The guidelines for the Annual Review are currently being revised. A guideline for conducting Career Development Reviews for Doctoral Students and Postdocs is currently in a test phase.
Field of Action Leadership and Leadership Culture
The modular leadership programme "Führen mit Kurs" has been specially developed for TU Braunschweig and is aimed at experienced leaders. In a fixed group, managers have the opportunity to expand their leadership repertoire and strengthen their leadership skills as well as to network and exchange ideas with colleagues from science and administration. The programme also places a special focus on the topic of strategic leadership at TU Braunschweig.
Field of Action Integration of Equality and Diversity
Workshops on the topics of Equality and Unconscious Bias are held for doctoral students as part of GradTUBS and for all employees in the TrainingProgramme.
Field of action Visibility and Appreciation
The Postdoc Network offers postdocs a platform to get to know each other and exchange ideas. The meetings take place regularly every two months and are organised either as a lunch event or after work. The aim of the network is to promote professional and social exchange among postdocs and to create a supportive community.

The TU Braunschweig is a place of collaborative learning and working. Achieving the university’s objectives and fulfilling its strategic development goals requires clear processes, constructive teamwork, and a sense of belonging across all departments and levels of management. As ZPE, we aim to contribute to fostering collaboration and cohesion at TU Braunschweig through measures in this focus area.
With this focus area, we as ZPE take a look at the workplace transformation. We support both employees and TU Braunschweig as an organisation in managing these new demands and fostering an health-promoting approach to change.
Field of Action Occupational Health Management
The work situation analysis offers teams support in analysing work-related stress factors and deriving targeted measures to deal with them.

Field of Action New work and Digitalisation
With the development and introduction of an e-learning course on Mobile Working and Alternating Teleworking, we would like to expand our portfolio with a digital learning format. The offer is aimed at all employees who apply for alternating teleworking or mobile working or who want to familiarise themselves with the topic of "home office" in general.
The course is available to TU members here.
Field of Action Opportunities and Challenges of Artificial Intelligence
In cooperation with the Media Lab, we offer events and workshops on the topic of Artificial Intelligence. These are designed to help employees utilise the potential of AI applications and integrate them profitably into their day-to-day work.
