Studying Abroad

Information about the opportunities for a stay abroad can be obtained personally from the International Office (IO) and on its websites. The partner universities of the Faculty of Economics and Computer Science are at your disposal.

The international coordinator (international-fk1(at)tu-braunschweig.de) will help you regarding questions about the timing of your stay abroad and the recognition of your achievements abroad.

In the Bachelor's program, we recommend the semester abroad in the 5th or 6th semester. These two semesters consist mainly of elective courses, so that equivalent achievements can be found or recognized more easily.

Information about possible partner universities can be found on the website of the International Office. Plan your semester abroad early, as the application deadlines are approx. 5 (Erasmus, Europe) or 9 (rest of the world) months before the start of the semester abroad.

Information regarding the procedure for developing an exchange plan for the binding recognition of credits can be obtained from your international coordinator.

Recognition of training

The Technische Universität Braunschweig is taking part in the Open University project: Creating permeability between university education and vocational training through the development of credit transfer procedures for competences using the example of the IT sector.

The first part of this project deals with the recognition of computer science training for the Bachelor's degree in Business Information Systems. In particular, the two IHK training courses for IT specialists in application development and system integration were analyzed. The results were then used to derive a general recommendation for recognition for the Bachelor's degree in Business Information Systems. In a further process, the other IT training courses were compared with the above-mentioned training courses, resulting in new general recognition recommendations.

Please note that a recognition is only possible if your training was not necessary for admission to the degree program (e.g. if admission was via the Abitur). In addition, you are not allowed to have already attempted the examinations.

If you would like to have further achievements recognized, this must be clarified directly with the respective lecturer.

For recognition of vocational training, please submit theapplication for recognition of the desired subjects as well as your certificate of vocational qualification (if applicable, proof of university entrance qualification).

If you have any questions about recognition, please contact your study program coordinator.
