Occupational fields

The rapid change in corporate structures, markets and society requires an increasingly strong understanding of economic contexts and methods. As a result, there is a need, particularly for industrial and service companies in the technology sector, for experts who combine basic knowledge from technology subjects with a comprehensive technological understanding (e.g. possibilities and limits of technological developments) as well as extensive management skills.

Examples of career prospects would be:

• Are you interested in developing new business models, taking into account the wishes and requirements of your customers and technical staff?

Structure of the degree program

Structure

The Master's degree program in Technology-oriented Management at the TU Braunschweig starts for the first time in the winter semester 2012/2013 and afterwards every semester. The standard period of study is 4 semesters. The different facets of the program are distributed as follows:

• Management (economics) - approx. 33 %
• Interface Management & Technology - approx. 43-51 %
• Technology management (management-oriented technology) - approx. 16-24 %

The orientation period

In the first semester and partly also in the second semester, students have the opportunity to gain an insight into various areas of management, technology management and the interface between management and technology. This provides an insight into selected areas of specialization.

The deepening or focusing period

From the 2nd semester onwards, students can deepen their knowledge in their chosen subject areas. Students can choose from a wide range of subjects in the areas of management and technology management. In the Management & Technology interface field, the focus is on teaching methods at this interface.

Implementation period

The implementation period then focuses on the implementation of the methods at the interface between management and technology in research or practice. The final stage is a six-month Master's thesis.

Application

Admission to the Master's degree course in Technology-oriented Management is currently restricted. There was no NC in the last semesters and it is not expected that there will be another NC in the near future. Students who fulfill the following conditions can expect to be admitted.

The special admission requirements are:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification
• Degree in a combined degree program in economics and engineering or a closely related degree program, i.e:
  • at least 30 LP in economics
  • of which at least 5 LP from the field of micro- and macroeconomics
  • as well as at least further 30 CP from the two fields of economics and/or technology (i.e. engineering, computer science, mathematics, architecture)
• Proof of sufficient knowledge of the German language

Appliction and admission regulations Technology-orientierted Management

It is possible to start at any semester. The application deadlines are from 01.06. to 15.07. for the winter semester and from 01.12. to 15.01. for the summer semester.
