We promote diversity-conscious university development with expertise and strategy

With the University Development Concept 2030, the members of TU Braunschweig have set themselves the goal of anchoring diversity as a overaching themes in strategic development. This means that over the next few years, we will actively address the promotion of diversity in the performance dimensions of studying and teaching, research, transfer, governance and administration.

In this way, we will meet current challenges in higher education policy and create the necessary conditions to remain a future-orientated and eligible university.

The Executive Board of TU Braunschweig has intensively analysed the importance of diversity for our university and has agreed to actively support the development of the topic and to establish diversity in all performance dimensions. To this end, a diversity strategy was developed and approved by the TU Braunschweig Senate on 21 August 2024. The strategy process was coordinated by Anouk Almstedt as the Diversity Policies Officer.

Diversity Impact Assessment

Auf dem Universitätsplatz im Herbst

The Diversity Impact Assessment (DIA) is an activating tool for promoting diversity and implementing measures. With the DIA, TU Braunschweig offers all departments, institutions and faculties an opportunity to actively develop further in the area of diversity. We see it as an ongoing task of all our members to work towards a diversity-conscious university.

Diversity is a broad subject area that includes various dimensions and topics: Gender and gender identity, physical and mental abilities, religion and ideology, sexual orientation, social background, age, ethnic origin and nationality[1].

With this offer, we focus on the members of our university as experts in their field of work; the Diversity Impact Assessment gives all work and organisational units the opportunity for an in-depth and structured examination of diversity. Using a self-assessment tool, participants learn about diversity in their own field of activity, exchange ideas, develop initial ideas and - depending on their prior knowledge - consider possible courses of action.

Would you like to explore the importance of diversity for your team? Then get in touch at any time for a non-binding initial discussion.
