An introduction to Focus 2022 can be found here.
Considering Diversity critical of discrimination1, the focus 2022 is based on recent scientific findings about the inequality of education in Germany, classism as a category of discrimination from an intersectional viewpoint as well as obstacles and barriers First Generation Students face at university. Those are explained in the following.
We observe and analyze social inequality on a structural level in order to actively reduce exisiting barriers and structures of inequality and thus increase equal opportunity.
Not every aspect is accurate for every person, but they make inequalities in society visible and help to improve study conditions of First Generation Students in the long term.
Further Information and Sources are provided in the foot notes.

The Focus 2022: First Generation Students at TU Braunschweig aims to gain more knowledge about the study conditions of first-generation students, to improve them in the long term, and thus to promote equal opportunities.
Target group specific as well as demand-oriented offers increase the attractiveness of the university for first generation students and can avoid dropouts. To this end, there are various projects and measures that will be further developed and supplemented over the course of the year. Here are some examples:
In order to work on those diverse topics the Diversity Office cooperates with external partners and different institutions of TU Braunschweig. See "Events and Workshops" for further offers for example as an information event of the International House for First Generation Students regarding the topic "Studieren in Europa" (Study in Europe) or the GradTUBS regarding the topic "Promovieren als First Generation Student" (Do a doctorate as a First Generation Student).
If you want to support First Generation Students during the Focus 2022 or already have a certain idea, please contact: diversity(at)tu-braunschweig.de.
