Peer-to-peer is a term for offerings within a peer group - for example, by students for students.

FirstGen@TU

There are three student networks at TU Braunschweig: BIPoC@TU, FirstGen@TU and LGBTIQ*@TU

FirstGen@TU is a peer-to-peer network for First Generation Students. The aim is to create a safer space in which students can support each other, share their experiences at the university and tackle joint projects. The Diversity Office provides advice to the networks and supports their development.

Diversity Mentoring

The Diversity Mentoring of the Diversity Coordination Office offers students of all disciplines a better orientation and support in everyday university life.

Students can register in their first semester or in a higher semester and are assigned a mentor - in 1:1 mentoring, the focus can be on orientation at the university, joint considerations on structuring everyday study life, or on a completely different topic.

ArbeiterKind.de

ArbeiterKind.de is an organization for those who are the first in their family to study. On the website you can find information about different support services like the info phone, online network or mentoring to start a career. There is also a local group in Braunschweig, it meets every first Wednesday of the month.

At each faculty there is a student council, and student commitees. The student councils and student commitees are a good way to get to know fellow students, ask questions, plan joint activities or get involved in your own subject area.

Student initiatives are groups in which students get involved in a wide variety of topics. They offer a great opportunity to get to know other students and to implement common ideas.

Social and Financial Counseling | Scholarships | Problems at Work

Advice on financial, social and personal issues as well as scholarships is offered by the Social and Financial Counseling Service of the Studentenwerk OstNiedersachsen (Student Services East Lower Saxony) - e.g. the Lower Saxony State Scholarship is aimed specifically at students from non-academic households. Another point of contact is the social and legal counseling of the AStA.

If you have problems at work, the staff of Students@work at the Cooperation Office for Universities and Trade Unions can provide advice.

Support in the study entry phase: D1RECTIONS

The D1RECTIONS project of the Institute of Industrial and Organizational Psychology supports students in the introductory phase of their studies to arrive at the university, to give their studies a direction and to plan necessary steps. 

The digital onboarding tool is particularly easy to use: two clicks, one registration form, and you get access to learning videos, self-reflection exercises, and lots of information.

Group coaching gives students the opportunity to specifically address career aspirations and goals. The coaches are also students who have completed training as group coaches during their studies.

Information and advice on studying abroad, financing options and scholarships is provided by the International House.

Qualification | Career entry

The Institute for Work, Organizational and Social Psychology offers a variety of training courses for action-related skills: From tips on application procedures, to reflecting on one's own role in a team, to presentation techniques.

The Career Service provides practical contacts as well as insights into possible fields of activity and offers a variety of counseling and qualification programs that specifically prepare students for their career entry.
