Through the study of relevant areas of sociology and political science as well as educational science and educational psychology, graduates will gain an understanding of the structure, functioning, tasks and interests of governmental and non-governmental organizations and their national and international social environment. Based on this, they will be able to develop concepts for development, legitimation and change processes in organizations, society, politics or education, and to guide and steer implementation processes. In doing so, they can draw on knowledge about specific requirements for educational processes and knowledge acquisition in organizations and politics, which the program conveys in a practice-oriented manner through project modules. The program provides the foundations for independent scientific research (doctorate).
Semester 1-3
The core area contains the core modules from the four disciplines of sociology, political science, educational science, and educational psychology. In this area, you must choose six modules from at least three of the four disciplines. By choosing three modules within a discipline, you will choose a discipline specialization.
Each module is completed with 9 CP and a joint final module examination.
With the specialist specialization "Sociology", students acquire in-depth knowledge of the analysis, evaluation and design of organizational change as well as organizational cultures. They acquire knowledge and skills for analysis and evaluation in the field of labor market and mobility. Furthermore, students will be qualified to develop specific organizational, personnel and further education concepts as well as to initiate internal organizational learning processes.
Students of the specialization "Political Science" are enabled to apply newer concepts of the coordination of state, market and society to problem areas from national and international politics. They will learn current concepts of cooperation and compliance research. You will be qualified for specialized activities in the field of political consulting and public affairs.
With the specialization "Educational Science", students learn to plan, design and evaluate learning and educational processes in a theory-based manner. They build up action competencies with a view to instruments of educational management, personnel and organizational development. They learn to implement counseling concepts on an individual and organizational level and acquire competencies with regard to different instruments of knowledge transfer.
Students of the specialization "Educational Psychology" acquire central competencies in the planning, implementation and evaluation of educational-psychological interventions. These skills are set out by the basic knowledge in the field of human experience and behavior in organizational contexts.
The Interdisciplinary Area
Modules amounting to 18 CP are completed in the interdisciplinary area. The selection ranges from core modules not yet taken to modules from economics, communication science and culture of technical science. By choosing two further core modules in the interdisciplinary Area, there is the possibility of taking a second subject specialization.
The project module
The project module is about the application and practical testing of the knowledge already acquired within the framework of a project. The project can be integrated into ongoing research projects of the lecturers in the degree program, but students can also choose their own project topics. The project module can result in the five-month Master's thesis. This combination of theory and practice underlines the fact that the degree program is equally research- and practice-oriented.
4th semester - The master thesis
The master's thesis follows at the end of the programme. The goal of the master's thesis is the independent study of a social science or educational science topic and its scientific and methodical treatment. The 5-month processing time is followed by a 45-minute disputation.
The Master's programme "Organisation, Governance, Education" is admission-restricted. First-year students can begin their studies in the winter or summer semesters. It is also possible to apply for a higher semester in the winter or summer semester.
