The Braunschweig Pavement Engineering Centre (ISBS) offers a comprehensive education in the field of pavement engineering. Since winter semester 2008/2009 the former Diploma Study Program has been completely replaced by Bachelor's and Master's degrees in response to the Bologna Process.
Our courses for the 6-semester bachelor program in Bauingenieurwesen (Civil Engineering), Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen (Industrial Engineering), Umweltingenieurwesen (Environmental Engineering) and Mobilität und Verkehr (Mobility and Transport) provide students with a basic understanding of road engineering, road design, earthworks and pavement construction. For the Bachelor program Mobilität und Verkehr, the ISBS offers additional elective courses. Students of all degree programs can write their Bachelor’s theses at the ISBS.
The classes offered for the 4-semester master program in Bauingenieurwesen (Civil Engineering), Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen (Industrial Engineering), Umweltingenieurwesen (Environmental Engineering), Mobilität und Verkehr (Mobility and Transport) and Sustainable Design are intended to broaden and complement the knowledge and skills in the fields of road design, pavement engineering and road construction with regard to the selection, design, testing and modeling of materials and structures (concrete, plaster and with a special focus on asphalt), pavement management and road maintenance. Master’s theses and student research projects (Studienarbeiten) can be written at the ISBS.
