In the annual excursion week of the TU Braunschweig, the ISBS organises on a rotational basis with the other transport-related institutes IVS, IVE and IfEV multi-day trips to different regions outside Germany. The destinations are interesting road projects and companies dealing with the production of road materials (quarries, refineries, asphalt mixing plants, …) which provide an insight into their activities. Also, classic attractions, such as architectural highlights or World Heritage sites are usually integrated in the tour. The aim of this trip is to enable students to get an insight into the professional world of road design and road construction. Convival evenings during the trips give students the possibility to talk with Professors and assistants in a relaxed atmosphere.
Furthermore, during the semester one-day or half-a-day excursions to construction sites and companies in northern and central Germany are offered. Detailed information is provided in due time in the courses and on this web site.
Registration
Registration for excursions is made at the ISBS Secretary. Participation for short trips is free, but you have to make a deposit of 15 €, which is returned on the day of the excursion.
For ISBS excursions solid, sturdy shoes (safety shoes are the best), long trousers (even in summer) and weatherproof jackets (limited shelter at construction sites) are necessary. Safety vests and helmets are provided when needed. The site-manager may deny the participation of students wearing inappropriate clothing in guided tours or visits or may restrict the tour to less spectacular locations.
