The “Bi-lingual module development”-project is part of the ProDiGI SAiL funding line and aims to frame an applicable structure of bilingual modules in civil and environmental engineering to appeal to both international exchange students and current TU Braunschweig students. To this end, an expandable portfolio of coherent modules will be organised, allowing students to choose a combination of modules that fits their (international) curriculum. Another aim of the project is to explore the opportunities and challenges of AI tools for bilingual teaching. This aspect and other questions about setting up international teaching will be subject to a joint best practice workshop, where an international expert will be invited. In addition, it is planned to support students by offering a seminar on research skills and scientific writing and presentation, in combination with a seminar on the topic of “Gender-related and intersectional communication skills in engineering”.
From the winter term 2025/26 onwards, the Civil Engineering and Environmental Engineering degree programmes will include at least two modules on advanced data science and four domain-specific modules, offering 30 ECTS per semester. These courses will cover topics related to the most recent technologies, like data-driven modelling, deep learning, and big data science, as well as environmental topics and challenges, such as water and coastal area management.
