Conversion and test of a heating system

Background

The curing of adhesives is being investigated as part of an ongoing research project. To shorten production processes, adhesives should cure as quickly as possible. This can be achieved by rapid heat input into the material. The curing behavior can be investigated in more detail in experiments on the rheometer. The device currently has only one electrical heating system. To further accelerate the curing process, inductive heating will be investigated in more detail. In a first step, the heating system has to be modified.

Task

The aim of the work is the conversion of an existing heating system to an inductive heating system. This also includes an evaluation of the new heating system in the context of tests. For example, the heating behaviour and the temperature distribution are to be examined more closely.

Temperaturverteilung bei induktiver Erwärmung

In the context of a student work the following fields of activity arise:

  • Literature research on how induction technology works and on heating with the help of induction.
  • Preliminary tests on the heating behaviour of various inductors available at the institute.
  • Sketch or construction for the attachment of an inductor as inductive heating system.
  • Conversion of the heating system.
  • Trials to test the new heating system.

Amount of work

The scope of the work is oriented towards project work in a team of 2. The institute will assist in the search for a team partner. For a detailed description of the task, please contact the supervising research assistant. The time for familiarization is given under supervision.

Requirements

Known requirements of the faculty for submitting a project thesis. In addition to the fun of experimenting, a committed, independent, careful and conscientious approach is required for the success of the activity.
