Each TU Braunschweig building is identified by a four-digit building number.
The first two digits of a building represent the grid square in which it is located. The last two digits are assigned to the buildings within each grid square in chronological order.
Example: Forumsgebäude 4201 = building number 1 within grid square 42.
All TU Braunschweig buildings are identified by building numbers on the TU site plan. The colour of each building number indicates whether the respective building is rented or owned by TU Braunschweig.

The short names for lecture halls and seminar rooms are as follows:
The letters and the first number before the period represent the address (abbreviated street name and house number). The second number after the period represents the consecutive room number in the building.
Example: Room SN 19.1 = Schleinitzstrasse 19, classroom no. 1
