Eligible participants generally include students and employees of TU BS, HBK, and Ostfalia, as well as members of our partner institutions. If eligibility expires during the booked period, further participation is not possible. Individual users are divided into groups. These groups A, B, and C pay different fees for paid offers. As a member of Group C, registration for sports courses is only possible at the beginning of the semester. Members of Group C are not insured through the state accident insurance fund.
All courses offered by us require online registration. Participation in a course/activity without prior registration is prohibited.
Upon confirmation of registration, the booking becomes binding, and the course fee must be paid.
Note: The signed SEPA mandate needs to be submitted only once in its original form (no scans or faxes) and applies to all further bookings made with the IBAN provided on the mandate. When booking multiple courses, we recommend registering with a password so that you only need to enter your data once.
Payment for the services is exclusively done via SEPA direct debit. The University Sports Center requires a signed SEPA mandate in its original form for each bank account. Failure to provide the SEPA mandate does not release the obligation to pay.
In case of unsuccessful direct debits due to the payer's fault, a processing fee of €7.00 per booking will be charged in the first reminder procedure.
If payment is not received by the deadline stated in the reminder, a second reminder procedure will be initiated, incurring an additional fee of €10.00.
If payment is still not received after the second reminder, we reserve the right to take legal action in addition to excluding the individual from further participation in the sports program.
Non-payment of one or more courses will result in exclusion from the entire sports program until the outstanding payment is settled.
Details regarding the registration process will also be provided on our website.
Due to special events in/on the sports facilities and/or the trainer's illness-related absence, individual course sessions may be cancelled. A (partial) refund of the course fee will generally not be provided. If there are cancellations of more than 30% of the planned sessions in a course, a partial refund of the course fee can be requested, provided that the proportionality of administrative and cost effort of the sports center to the partial course fee refund is justifiable. Additionally, the sports center reserves the right to (short-term) cancel offerings if a minimum number of participants is not reached or if other organizational reasons do not allow the course to proceed. In such cases, registered participants will receive a refund of the course fees paid.
Cancellation from a fee-based service must be reported exclusively in person or in writing at the Sports Center office.
A partial refund for fee-based courses can only be granted in the following justified cases:
Withdrawal from university/Change of employer
Change of study location
Illness with a medical certificate (sports incapacity during the booked period)
A written proof is required in each case. If one of the above reasons occurs during the ongoing course or service, a partial refund can be issued from the day of application, but not retroactively. A processing fee of €10.00 will be deducted from the refunded amount.
Students are generally covered by statutory accident insurance at all events organized by the University Sports Center with an instructor, including competitions organized through the University Sports Center. However, activities where the University Sports Center only provides sports facilities for free use (e.g., free tennis play, open training times, or running on the track, etc.) are not covered. The extent of insurance coverage for excursions within and outside the country is decided on a case-by-case basis by the relevant authorities. Therefore, we strongly recommend taking out private accident and/or international health insurance!
6.2 Employees
For all employees of the university (non-civil servants), insurance coverage is provided under §2 (1) of the German Social Code VII (SGB VII) if it concerns an event organized by the sports center with an instructor. A sports accident is considered a work-related accident and is covered by the state accident insurance if the physical activity takes place within the framework of company sports. According to a ruling by the Federal Social Court (BSG) dated 16.01. – 28.11.61, the following criteria must be met:
The physical activity must:
Provide compensation for work-related physical strain
Have a broad sports-oriented focus (not solely participating in competitive sports)
Be limited to members of the university and be related to the company.
These criteria are usually met during university sports events. However, activities where the sports center only provides sports facilities for free use (e.g., free tennis play, open training times, or running on the track, etc.) are not covered. The extent of insurance coverage for excursions within and outside the country is decided on a case-by-case basis by the relevant authorities. Therefore, we strongly recommend taking out private accident and/or international health insurance!
6.3 Civil servants
For civil servants, an accident during university sports is only considered an official accident if the following conditions, in addition to the criteria mentioned above, are met (RdErl. d. MF vom 04.11.97 - NdsMBl. 47/1997):
The group must be instructed by a trainer appointed by the service.
An attendance list must be kept.
The group must have an approved exercise plan.
Spouses and registered life partners as well as cooperation partners
These participants are not insured through the state accident insurance fund in the event of sports accidents. Their own health insurance must be used. If the cooperation partner is a sports club that is a member of the city sports federation, its participants are insured against accidents through the club.
6.5 Accident reports
In the event of sports accidents, members of status groups A and B must fill out an accident report and submit it to the sports center. Forms are available at the office or online in the download section.
Civil servants must report the accident to Department 12 of the university.
6.6 Insurance coverage
The insurance coverage only applies to personal injuries, not to property damage (e.g., glasses or similar).
The house rules of the TU Braunschweig and the regulations of the University Sports Center apply. In addition, there are other sports-specific regulations that are posted in or at the respective sports facilities and are also published on our website.
In case of theft within the sports facilities used by the University Sports Center, TU Braunschweig does not assume liability. In the event of damage, we advise filing a police report against unknown persons. To prevent theft, we encourage you to use the lockers (bringing a secure padlock) available in the sports facilities. For improper use of the lockers, the individuals responsible will be billed for the resulting repair costs, approximately €100.
The personal data marked with * in the registration form (title, first name, last name, street, house number, postal code, city, status, student ID or work phone number, and for paid offers: bank details) are essential for registering for events at the University Sports Center.
While providing this information is voluntary, participation in the desired event at the University Sports Center is not possible without it. This regulation is agreed upon and supported by the responsible Presidential Commission and the data protection officer of the Technical University of Braunschweig.
The data is transmitted in encrypted form to the University Sports Center's computers, processed there, and not disclosed to third parties. Bank details are deleted 14 days after successful debiting, and all other data are deleted no later than one year later. Personal data stored on the computers of the sports center can be viewed upon consultation with the University Sports Center.
Only with the active consent of the person concerned, name, address, telephone number, email address, date of birth, and the previous health insurance company are passed on to the Techniker Krankenkasse.
All emails sent by instructors through the booking system to participants are also copied to the University Sports Center's office.
Our website contains links to websites of our cooperation partners as well as to our sports groups, over whose content we have no influence and for which reason we do not assume any liability. The respective information provider of the website is responsible for the content and accuracy of the information provided.
The Sports Center reserves the right to conduct checks both in the sports courses and on the outdoor facilities. If participants do not have a participation ticket with them, our supervisors are authorized to ask them to leave the course/area.
If the participation conditions of the University Sports Center are not adhered to, this will result in a warning (yellow card) and, in case of a repeat offense, exclusion from the sports program (red card). In cases of particularly serious violations, the University Sports Center reserves the right to exclude individuals or groups from the sports offerings, even without prior warning.
If a person within a playgroup violates the rules, the entire group will receive a warning. In case of another violation within the same group (regardless of the offending individual), the entire group will be excluded from the sports program for the remainder of the semester.
The exclusion applies until the end of the current semester for the sports activity where the violation occurred, as well as for all other similar offerings (same sport or additional free playgroups). Already booked offerings of a different nature can still be used. Re-registration within the current semester is not possible.
The staff of the University Sports Center is authorized to collect and process the data of the individuals involved upon identification with a valid ID card in case of a violation.
In case of exclusion from the sports program due to non-compliance with the participation conditions, there is no right to a refund of any course fees already paid.
