At the Niedersachsen stand, the Cluster of Excellence SE²A - Sustainable and Energy Efficient Aviation presented the scaled aircraft model CLIME - a highlight of the Cluster of Excellence's research.
From 31 March to 4 April 2025, visitors to the most important international industrial trade fair were able to find out more about the test vehicle designed by SE²A and TU Braunschweig.
With around 127,00 visitors, the Hannover Messe was once again a great success this year.
The model attracted countless interested guests to the “Lower Saxony Joint Stand Innovations from Science and Research”, including Minister Falko Mohrs and State Secretary Prof. Joachim Schachtner from the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture, Minister Jakob von Weizsäcker from the Saarland Ministry of Finance and Science, State Secretary Thomas Wünsch from the Saxony-Anhalt Ministry of Science, Energy, Climate Protection and the Environment and the President of the Technical University of Braunschweig, Prof. Dr. Angela Ittel.
They discussed the potential of CLIME with our SE²A researchers, asked technical and non-technical questions and got to know the research of our unique, interdisciplinary Cluster of Excellence.
CLIME is far more than just an impressive model: it combines state-of-the-art technologies and innovative approaches in the field of aviation research to reduce energy consumption and emissions. The modular design makes it possible to test a variety of configurations of sustainable propulsion concepts with radical energy savings under real conditions. It closes the gap between wind tunnel and flight tests, saving both time and costs.
Special thanks to the dedicated colleagues who presented CLIME during the exhibition and explained the complex technical background to visitors in an understandable way!
