The students from the SE²A research club changING were awarded with prizes for two projects at this year's Jugend forscht regional competition in Braunschweig.
Marielle Elfers and Simon Kawohl secured second place with their project "Comfortable Flying – Without Shaking" in the physics category. In addition to this achievement, they also received the ITS Special Prize from ITS Mobility and the Rotary Innovation Prize. This marks the third consecutive year that the two students have participated in changING. Since late 2023, the students have been working on this topic with the support of SE²A doctoral researcher Florian Siebert from the Institute of Fluid Mechanics.
Jannat Touati won the special prize ‘Shaping the future with safety’ from HDI AG with her project “Train Track Barrier – Save Human Lives! Version 2”. With the support of Dr Dina Al-Kharabsheh, she has also been working on the topic of safety on railway tracks since the end of 2023.
SE²A was also represented in the ‘Jugend forscht’ lounge with two hands-on activities: Ozobots, small programmable robots provided by the Institute of Intermodal Transport and Logistics Systems (ITL) and a fuel cell provided by the Institute of Internal Combustion Engines and Fuel Cells (ivb).
We congratulate the winners on their outstanding achievements and would like to thank their supervisors and the changING team for their encouragement and support.

About 'changING'
The research club 'changING' of the Cluster of Excellence SE²A - Sustainable and Energy-Efficient Aviation at TU Braunschweig started for the first time in October 2019. Pupils from the tenth class onwards are given the opportunity to carry out independent research and experiments. They will also learn about technical courses of study and careers in the TU Braunschweig's "Mobility" research focus in a practical way. The young people are supported through to their A-levels if they wish to stay in the programme for the full four-year duration of the project. Over the past six years, around 200 students have taken part in the research club - in cooperation with seventeen TU Braunschweig departments and institutes. changING is recognised by many schools as a working group and also offers the opportunity to write papers under supervision.
