The 60th Symposium on Theoretical Chemistry (STC) took place at the TU Braunschweig from September 2nd to 6th 2024. Nearly 400 participants of fields like academia, industry, and various research institutes, joined the STC. Following the motto "Next-Generation Theoretical Chemistry" not only established but also emerging fields of the theoretical chemistry were featured. Key topics of the conference included electronic structure theory, molecular dynamics, quantum computing, machine learning, and uncertainty quantification. However, the application of the theoretical chemistry in areas such as pharmacy and material science was also a central topic of some of the lectures.
In addition to the presentations, the STC 2024 also included two poster sessions and several award ceremonies. Excursions on the afternoon of September 4th and the conference dinner rounded off the program.
The first annual workshop for Pure and Data-driven Quantum Chemistry (PDQC) took place from 28.07.2022 to 30.07.2022 in Braunschweig. The group of Vera Krewald from TU Darmstadt as well as the group of Christopher Stein from TU Munich (2022 still University of Duisburg-Essen) visited us in Braunschweig. An exciting scientific program with a lecture, talks and posters as well as a trip on the river Oker ensured a successful retreat.
