The content presented here is intended to provide an overview of the doctoral program at TU Braunschweig. For more detailed information, please visit the websites of the respective faculties (linked below).
Officially, the doctorate begins with admission (German: Zulassung). For this purpose, an application must be submitted, whereby the necessary documents (e.g. confirmation of supervision, curriculum vitae) as well as the admission requirements vary depending on the faculty. It is not regulated when one should submit the application for admission, however, the admission letter (German: Zulassungsbescheid) is a prerequisite for enrollment as a doctoral student at the TU Braunschweig. The number of semesters in which one must be enrolled also depends on the faculty.
During their doctoral program, doctoral students have the opportunity to participate in interdisciplinary and discipline-specific training courses. This is mandatory at some faculties, but the number of hours or courses varies depending on the faculty. You can find more information about the training opportunities during the doctorate at the TU Braunschweig in the FAQ section at the question "What training opportunities are offered?".
At the end of the doctoral program, an opening application (German: Antrag auf Eröffnung) must be submitted before the dissertation is submitted. The required documents and prerequisites for this also vary depending on the faculty. The doctoral program is officially finished after a successful defense and examination as well as the publication of the dissertation.
