The cooperative overall system Digital Intersection 4.0 comprises core technologies for "intelligent" intersection infrastructures in order to guide automated vehicles in mixed traffic with other road users safely and efficiently via inner-city nodes. New functionalities for cooperative, automated vehicle guidance at inner-city junctions will be developed and evaluated both in road tests and with the aid of simulations.
The Institute of Transport and Urban Planning deals with the traffic effects of the use case "pre-sorting and pre-signalling". This provides for automated vehicles to be collected at relevant junctions in front of the junction and then safely turned off.
The overall objective of the project is the conception, realisation, testing and evaluation of the cooperative overall system Digital Intersection 4.0 (traffic infrastructure, pre-signalling, automated/non-automated vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians) on the digital test field AIM in public transport in the city of Braunschweig.
