The topic of sustainability and the Renewable Energy Directive is becoming increasingly important. In order to further reduce CO2 emissions in the transport sector, all current and future vehicles with combustion engines must also be considered. This goal can only be achieved with renewable synthetic drop-in fuels.
New production methods and power-to-X processes can already be used to produce synthetic fuels and components that comply with the European fuel standard EN228. Nevertheless, the compatibility of these new fuels with the emission control systems of the existing fleet has not been fully researched. For this reason, a test methodology has to be developed that can be used to check fuel compatibility.
